The first project i want to share is the bedroom wall. It had a very old wallpaper that was falling so we decided to rip it off and paint the wall. There was more than one layer of paper, that was easily removed, except for the glue, that could later affect the paint´s texture.
So i used this tip i learned from a makeover TV show: equal parts of water and laundry softener, wet the surface, wait a few minutes and rip it off!! also... it's cheaper than specialized products, and you get a great scent!
It´s worth the effort and time to get a homogeneous surface.
Now that i see the mess... that's no way to get a project done! it's dangerous and messy, i'm sure you'll be more cautious. I'll be next time!
Since it was a sort of wood wall, at last minute we decided to apply a white base to improve the colour and avoid any texture differences.
And here is the beautiful colour we chose!
The next project was the kitchen wall. It took a lot of work because of the amount of layers of old paint. Every time I started painting it, the old paint attached to my roller and a new layer was discovered underneath. This was truly exhausting so I decided to buy a product that fixates all of the layers together to the wall and let me paint over it. After a few attempts without this product, it worked! So glad, because I was starting to think about quitting and leaving it with an "abandoned", "meth house" look :) And this is how it looked:
So lucky to have found the saving product, I'm so sorry i can't remember the name, but just letting you know something like that exists, it can save you a lot of time and your sanity as well! And here is the wall after i finished:
Then, it was the bedroom closet's turn; the top section was very old and grey. A layer of fresh white paint, and it was already like new.
Then, we took the "mental institution brown" doors and painted them white. This job is a pain in the ass, but the results are great!
Look the difference just by the door color (and daylight):
And the last tip: all those things that look ugly, dirty or very hard to replace, to most of them, you can apply one of two solutions: a) paint or b) contact paper. I swear you can fix almost anything!
Thanks for your visit! Feel free to comment, share, subscribe, and even show me your own projects!
