Did the last tenants before you install a laminate floor and when they left took it with them? Well, ours did. What is more awful, is that the last tenants were the apartment owners, who own a bunch of properties, and instead of leaving it there for us to enjoy, they decided to take it with them, leaving a filthy old floor, and all of the baseboards with ugly impossible-to-eliminate-glue.
In our case, the wall was painted in a creamy tone, so it was not hard to find a contact paper that suits. But you can use wood imitation. There are very good imitations these days! anyway, everything will be better than the glue, and there's no way i'm paying to some guy to polish it with a machine. This is what I did:
I cut 7cm stripes of a beige contact paper, and started covering the old baseboards.
This was so much easier! And fun! And this is the final result...
